Container control
Overview
Free time is negotiated shipment by shipment, and the agreement often lives only in an email. Sailix gives it a record. A Free Days Configuration is raised against an import B/L or an export booking, names the line that owns the containers, and sets detention, demurrage and final invoice free days for each container, with an approval reference and date.
Each configuration starts as pending and is then approved or rejected, by the agency on the line's behalf or by the line in its own portal. When the concession is on the charge instead of the days, the Import Detention Waiver records a discount per B/L in days, percent or amount, with the line's consent file attached.
Capabilities
What it does
Per-container free days
Set detention free days, demurrage free days and final invoice free days for every container on the B/L or booking.
Basic or extended
Mark each configuration as basic or extended and as import or export, and filter the list by those types and by approval status.
Booking prefill
For exports, selecting the booking fills the line and its containers, with default free days taken from the invoice or the booking.
Approval with reason
Pending configurations are approved with notes and an uploaded consent proof, or rejected with a mandatory reason. The approver and time are stored.
Line-side approvals
Lines signed in to their portal see the requests raised for them, with the agency, containers and requested days, and can approve or reject.
Import detention waivers
Create a waiver per B/L with a discount in days, percent or amount, apply a percentage across all containers, and attach the line's consent.
Workflow
How it works
First
Raise the configuration
Choose import or export, basic or extended, and enter the B/L reference or select the booking.
Then
Enter the days
For each container, set the free days and the approval reference you were given.
Next
Get it approved
The request waits in Free Days Approvals until someone approves or rejects it.
Finally
Waive if agreed
If the line grants a discount on detention, record an import detention waiver against the B/L and attach the consent.
Questions
Questions and answers
How do I record extra free days for a container?
- Create a Free Days Configuration. Pick import or export, enter the B/L reference or booking, choose the line that owns the containers, and set detention, demurrage and final invoice free days per container. Save it and the configuration is listed as pending until approved.
Who approves a free days request?
- Either side can. Agency users with access to Free Days Approvals approve on behalf of the line, attaching consent proof where they have it. Lines that use the Sailix line portal see the same requests under their own Free Days Approvals and can decide them directly.
Where do the standard free days on an import come from?
- From the import B/L. Free days is a required field on the B/L record, and the delivery order sets its validity to the discharge date plus those days. The desk can adjust the figure on the delivery order before it is issued.
How does an import detention waiver work?
- A waiver is tied to a B/L and carries a discount in days, a percentage or a fixed amount, plus the line's consent file. When a delivery order is extended, matching waivers are listed. Day waivers reduce chargeable days and money waivers reduce the detention amount.
