Container control
Overview
Container tracking in Sailix means a recorded history: which container moved, to what status, at which location, on what date. The Container Movement Register holds that history and takes new movements three ways. They can be entered by hand, set against a booking, or uploaded from a depot's Excel report and reviewed before saving.
Around the register are the confirmations that change inventory. A discharge list and discharge confirm bring import containers into stock. A load list and load confirm take export containers out after the vessel sails. Pick confirm adds purchased, leased or shipper-owned units, and drop confirm removes units that are sold, off-leased or dropped as shipper-owned.
Capabilities
What it does
Movement register
List movements with filters for container, status, load status and storage location, see totals for full and empty units, and reverse an entry recorded in error.
Excel upload with review
Upload a depot workbook, map each sheet's rows to a Sailix status, fix the rows it flags, set the line, and save them as one update job.
Load list and confirm
Build the load list from a booking, an export B/L or Excel, submit it to the port, then confirm loaded containers after sailing to take them out of inventory.
Discharge list and confirm
Create the discharge list from an import job's B/Ls, then confirm each container with its date, condition and any damage to add it to inventory.
Pick and drop confirm
Pick containers into stock as a purchase, lease, shipper-owned unit or lease-out return. Drop them out as a sale, off-lease or shipper-owned drop.
Movement configuration
Set a container's from status, to status, load status and storage location in one form, selecting the container by booking or by its number.
Workflow
How it works
First
Discharge on arrival
Create the discharge list for the voyage and confirm each container once it is off the vessel.
Then
Register daily moves
Record gate, rail, road and shifting movements by hand, or upload the depot's report and review it.
Next
Prepare the load list
Before sailing, build the load list for the voyage and submit it to the port.
Finally
Confirm the load
After the vessel sails, confirm the loaded containers against the submitted list. They leave your inventory.
Questions
Questions and answers
Does Sailix track containers by GPS?
- No. Sailix tracks containers through recorded movements. Each entry stores the status, load state, storage location, date and remarks, and the container's place in inventory follows from the latest one. Movements come from confirmations, manual entries and uploaded depot reports.
Can I upload container movements from Excel?
- Yes. In the register's file import tab, choose the port and location, then upload an .xlsx or .xls workbook. Sailix reads each sheet, shows the rows with a normalized status, highlights rows that need fixing, and saves the batch once every row has a valid line.
What is the difference between a load list and a load confirm?
- The load list is prepared before loading and submitted to the port ahead of sailing, after which it is locked. The load confirm is made once the vessel has sailed, against a submitted load list, and removes the confirmed containers from the agent's inventory.
Which container statuses can be recorded?
- The register covers the stages a container passes through, including discharged, gate in, picked up, to consignee, destuffed, empty returned, under repair, available, allocated, to shipper and loaded out, plus rail, road and shifting moves for import and export and statuses for shipper-owned containers.
