Overview
A Sailix quotation is always created from an inquiry, so the customer, route, commodity and container mix are already filled in. For carrier owned containers, the line and the negotiated rate per container type come from the accepted negotiation. You add the quotation date, validity date and currency, then build the rest of the price from tariff lines.
Each tariff line carries a charge type, rate source, tariff item, unit, currency, buy rate, sell rate and quantity, with exchange rates into the quotation currency. A price breakdown shows every quoted line with its tax, and you can untick a line to leave it out. The quotation downloads as a PDF and is tracked by status until the customer accepts or rejects it.
Capabilities
What it does
Buy and sell rates
Enter buy and sell rates per tariff item with vendor, unit, container type and quantity. Sailix shows foreign and local currency amounts for both sides.
Carriage and local charges
Tag each line as carriage or local, and record whether the rate came from the card rate, a special rate, a vendor, the line or another source.
Price breakdown with tax
The breakdown lists each quoted line with the tax its tariff attracts, plus a sub total and tax total. Unticked lines stay out of the quote.
Sailing options
Sailix lists vessel voyages that match the ports and shipment date. Include several as options for the customer and pre-select one if you wish.
Quotation PDF
Download a PDF with the container table, tax summary, amount in words and terms. The send screen previews it and prefills the customer's email address.
Status tracking
Filter quotations by saved, sent, accepted, rejected or expired. Only a saved quotation can be edited, and only saved or sent ones can be accepted.
Workflow
How it works
First
Select the inquiry
Choose an inquiry to quote. Sailix loads its customer, route and containers and, for carrier owned containers, the negotiated line and rates.
Then
Price it
Set the dates and currency, confirm the rate per container, add tariff lines and review the price breakdown with tax.
Next
Offer sailings and send
Tick the vessel voyages to offer, save the quotation, download the PDF and mark it as sent.
Finally
Record acceptance
Accept the quotation, choosing the vessel voyage if none was pre-selected. A liner booking is then created from the accepted quotation.
Questions
Questions and answers
Does Sailix email the quotation to the customer?
- Sailix opens a send screen with the customer's address prefilled, a subject line and a preview of the quotation PDF, and pressing Send records the quotation as sent. Sailix does not deliver the email itself at present, so download the PDF and send it from your own mailbox.
Can a customer accept a quotation themselves?
- Yes. Once the agency has marked a quotation as sent, the customer can accept it from their own login after choosing a vessel voyage. Agency staff can also accept on the customer's behalf while the quotation is in saved or sent status.
Can I quote in a different currency from my tariff rates?
- Yes. Every tariff line has its own currency, with separate buy and sell exchange rates into the quotation currency. Sailix calculates the foreign currency and local currency amounts for each line, and the PDF includes a summary of foreign currency amounts by currency.
Can I quote carrier owned containers before the line confirms a rate?
- No. For carrier owned containers, Sailix requires an accepted negotiation on the inquiry and refuses to save the quotation without one. Shipper owned inquiries have no such requirement and can be quoted as soon as the inquiry has been saved.
