Agency and tariffs
Overview
Line Management is where a liner agency sets up the shipping lines it represents. Each line has its business and company name, contact details, address, PAN, TAN and GST numbers, bank details, a logo and an optional B/L template. The agency agreement, a TRC copy and the commission rows are stored with the line.
Under each line sits a cost matrix by port, and by terminal where rates differ. It covers seven charge categories: export collection, import collection, transshipment laden, transshipment empty, port storage export, port storage import and detention. You can type the rows or import them from an Excel workbook built on the sample file.
Capabilities
What it does
Line profile
Record business name, company name, email, phone, address, PAN, TAN and GST numbers, bank account details, logo and an optional B/L template for each line.
Agreement and commission
Upload the agency agreement and TRC copy, and set commission rows for B/L and DO fee, detention collection, and export and import containers, by percentage or per container.
Port-wise cost matrix
Add a section per port, choose a terminal and currency, and enter collection and expense amounts by charge and container size across the charge categories.
Excel cost matrix import
Import a port's charges from an Excel workbook with sheets for collection, transshipment and port storage. A sample workbook downloads from the form.
Slot operator mapping
Line Slot Operator Mapping links an in-house line, its slot operator and an agent vendor for TDR and arrival reports. Slot Type Profiles define name, code and TEU size.
Cost matrix update log
Edits to saved collection, transshipment, detention and port storage rows are compared field by field, logged with the user, and emailed to the organization's address.
Workflow
How it works
First
Create or link the line
Add a new line with its profile, or link a line that already exists, then attach the agreement and the commission rows.
Then
Add ports
Add a port section for each port where you serve the line, and pick the terminal and the currency.
Next
Load the cost matrix
Download the sample workbook, fill it in and import it, or enter the rows by hand in each charge tab.
Finally
Map slot operators
Set up slot types, and map the line's slot operators to agent vendors for vessel reports.
Questions
Questions and answers
How do I set up a principal shipping line in Sailix?
- Open Line Management and create the line with its business name, email, phone, address and tax numbers, or link an existing line. Then upload the agency agreement, enter the commission rows, add a section for each port, and fill the cost matrix by hand or from Excel.
What does the cost matrix Excel import contain?
- The workbook has sheets for export collection cost, import collection cost, transshipment laden, transshipment empty, port storage export and port storage import. Each row needs the charge name, type and amounts. Sailix reads amounts per container category, such as dry, reefer and hazardous, in 20 foot and 40 foot sizes.
Can rates differ by terminal within the same port?
- Yes. Port level charges apply to the whole port. Choosing a terminal on the port section lets you keep rates that apply only at that terminal. The currency selected on the section applies to every charge and tariff under that port.
Where do I keep overseas agents and service partners?
- Service Partner Profile, in the same management menu, holds each partner's name, short name, address, telephones, email and two key persons. It also records currency, account manager, party account type, status, region, country, ranking and forwarder network group. The forwarding module keeps its own service partner profiles.
